The Polk County Growth Management Department is forming a “Wetlands Focus Group” to assist staff in the review of proposed changes to current wetland policies. We invite your participation in this process.
The meetings will include public and private sector representatives including participants from resource agencies such as the Southwest Florida Management District.
The goal is to foster a better understanding of the value of wetlands and the best means to protect them.
Topics of discussion will include:
- Development Review for Wetlands Impacts – Process and Issues
- Wetlands Protection – Agency Roles
- Proposed Changes to Wetland Policies
- Overview of Wetland Mitigation and Banking
The Focus Group will meet on the following dates:
(All meeting meetings will be held from 2:30 – 5:00 pm in the Polk County Commission Board Room.)
- Tuesday, June 15, 2010
- Monday, June 28, 2010
- Monday, July 12, 2010
Participants will be encouraged to contribute to the group discussion on wetlands and related topics.
